Founder and Managing Partner
Jose Cochingyan III is the founder and Managing Partner of Cochingyan & Partners Law Offices, a Philippine based, full-service business law firm that has gained international recognition and prominence in the field of cross-border transactions under his leadership.
He has advised many globally renowned multi-national companies in his more than 30 years of professional practice with considerable expertise in all kinds of corporate structures and commercial transactions, corporate governance, mergers & acquisitions, foreign direct investment, intellectual property law, environmental compliance, commercial disputes, corporate taxation, immigration and labor legislation.
Mr. Cochingyan’s commitment to the legal profession extends to his involvement in law-related organizations. He is the present Deputy Secretary General of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA), an international association of business and commercial lawyers who live in, or otherwise have a strong interest in, the Asia-Pacific Region. He was the former Program Coordinator and a former Chairman of the Cross Border Investments Committee of the IPBA. He is a registered Patent and Trademark Attorney and has been practicing intellectual property law since 1988. He is a member of Asian Patent Attorney Association (APAA), International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), and the International Trademark Association (INTA).
In addition to his professional practice, Mr. Cochingyan currently lectures at the Ateneo de Manila School of Law on Business Law, Corporate Finance, and Partnership and Agency Law. He is a graduate of the University of the Philippines, College of Law.
